There are two types of recruitments in a broader way.
1) Technical (CNS/Technician/Operations etc. )
2) ATC
For first type of recruitment process, recently AAI made it Direct selection post, means no interviews will take place. Minimum Eligibility to apply is that candidate needs to have a pass mark of 50% in class 12 with Mandatory Subjects: Chemistry, Physics

So, it's up to you which ever course suits you.
If you are going for a Diploma, it's good because it's a one year course and is much reliable and easier and off course cost matters. Every institute has its own fee structure. So, if you are really interested in this course, then only go for a 2 years one but if you want to gain just an experience, then you should simply go for a Diploma or some certification course. You need a result in which you are passed with 70 percentage. But, you cannot get a admission if you failed in any subject. But, if you passed in supplementary exam then you get a result which shows that you are passed in all subject. Then, you are eligible if you scored more than 70 percentage.
