Yes, it's a good option. I would recommend you to explore Executive MBA rather than distance MBA. An Executive MBA has inbuilt advantages compared to distance MBA both in terms of duration & curriculum.

Anybody who could manage a good enough CGPA (around 7 and above) had lot of opportunities of internships and placements from reputed companies and if you have managed to get a valid GATE score, you will get the scholarship. The tuition has been reduced from the time when I was in M.Tech. I think the selection criteria too has changed.
You will probably have to write another entrance test of Manipal to secure the M tech admission, but if you have cleared GATE it will not be a big hurdle. If you are looking to make your career in event managing than I would suggest you going for a degree course in event management as by getting a specialised degree in that, the chances of getting in the field would be more as the preference would be given accordingly. But you have one more option. First, for Bachelors you can pursue degree in mass communication and then for Masters go for a specialised degree course in event management. The Bachelors in mass communication/event management is for 3 years. Masters in mass communication/event management is for 2 years. So it is all your choice. Don't get confused. Both are good options.

Read newspaper daily for current affairs, as well as you will have to revise some of your NCERT books for general knowledge.
You must have a grasp in Reasoning, English, and some conceptual Mathematics.
And you should have to choose Arihant publication books for JAT.
(Delhi University BMS entrance test book by Arihant).
