The PGDM/MBA admission process at GIBS Business School in Bangalore is different than many of the top IIMs as they do not maintain a specific and rigid cutoff to determine an applicant's admission status in the shortlisting process. In general, there are score ranges of percentile or marks that candidates are expected to meet, which make them competitive within the pool of applicants considered for the shortlisting process.

In addition to the entrance exam score, GIBS also takes into consideration the entire picture of the applicant through a holistic evaluation consisting of Entrance exam score, Academic performance, Group Discussion, Interview and Overall Profile of each applicant. Therefore an entrance exam score is only one aspect of the decision-making process.

Current indicative minimum entrance exam score ranges based on trends (General category):

For CAT / XAT / ATMA entrance exams, most commonly will meet somewhere between 60-70 percentile.
For MAT entrance exams, most will meet somewhere between 64-75 percentile or equivalent score.
For CMAT entrance exams, most will meet somewhere between 70-75 percentile.
For GMAT entrance exams, a score of approximately 450+ will generally be viewed as positive.

For BBA programme admission no formal entrance cutoff; the basis for admission into this programme will be based upon the merit of Class XII (10+2) and not through performance in entrance exams.

These are expectations/indications of minimum entrance exam score ranges. The actual minimum entrance exam scores may change annually based upon the number of applicants being considered for admission; this will also change based upon how difficult the exams will be on the applicant pool; as well as how well each individual applicant performed in the group discussion and interview stages of the admission process and therefore successful at offsetting a lower performance in the entrance exam.

Yes, GIBS Business School organizes industry placements where students can meet companies in various industries. Each placement is designed to fit specific types of business, such as finance, marketing, IT, consulting, and retail, so that students can find and connect with recruiters in their respective industries. Marketing Events are designed in partnership with corporations, created around the current needs of the marketplace, and approved by placement cells. Students receive exposure to actual workplace experiences through internships and live projects prior to their placement. Stipends offered to GIBS students for internships typically range between INR 10,000-25,000 in any month, based on the company, the role and the industry. Certain companies will pay higher stipends for specialised profiles. A few companies will pay lesser amounts, but offer learning exposure as a key focus. One advantage of GIBS' strong relationship with companies is that most GIBS students get paid internships, as opposed to unpaid internships.
