Hi Gaurav, scope of merchant navy in India is very promising one. The number of ship and cruise are increasing, also private giants are investing crores in ports,and sea trade.
There is a boom in this sector with handsome salary package.
You can enter it right after your 12 (PCM) after completing 1 years pre-sea training as a deck cadet.
After completing B.Sc.(Nautical Science) in the officer cadre which will lead you to become captain after 5-7 years of experiance.
You can also join it directly after b.tech in marine engineering,or mechanical, electrical, electronics & telecommunication, naval architect.
Except marine engineering candidates others have to undergo a 10 months pre-sea training which is offered by many institute and port trusts or recruitingcompany itself. After that you will be appointed as a 5th or junior engineer. It will take you 5-7 years depending in your own abilities for becoming 'chief engineer'.

You will have opportunities in software development, testing and networking. After finishing your M.sc you can go for a professional degree like MBA or opt for PhD. Both have many opportunities in technology and other industries.
With this qualification you may consider jobs in application, development or system software. Jobe available range from System programmers, Systems analysts, application programmers etc. The range is wide and scope high. You could look at various companies such as Oracle, HP, Wipro. IBM, Compaq etc.
You can go for a course in web development technologies. You can go for .Net like VB.Net, ASP.Net XML.Net etc or you can go for Java and Oracle combination. As additional certifications would definitely help you get a good career.

US is one of the finest study destination to pursue masters degree, there are many good and top ranked universities in US, which offers MS degree in various fields, such as:
Electrical engineering.
Computer Engineering and many more fields.
As you have completed your B.E in marine engineering you can pursue masters in marine engineering and related fields, apart from this you may also pursue MBA.
However in order to pursue MBA from good universities in US, you need to have atleast 2-3 years of full time work experience after graduation.
What I would suggest you that before opting for any course you must first decide in which filed you wish to build your career and accordingly you can select the best course as per your interest and liking.
