Science & Research. and Animation !! Weird choice!
If you are into researches, you wont even get time to go for an Animation project (as they are ALSO time consuming, and need hard work). If you are working in Animation Industry, all you would ever think to research for would be a new Plug-in that can make your work easy.
In general, Animation and research work doesnt seem to be related to each-other. At most you can work as an Animation artist who creates the 3D versions of what Research Department has found. As an Animation artist you can work for Organizations related to scientific Researches & Technology or into Product Designing but then you will not be doing researches.
If you are really enthusiastic about Science and Research, you should choose that only.
Our country needs better Scientists more than better Animators.

In order to pursue Phd, from universities abroad, you need to first of all make a list of the universities that you aspire for, then send emails to respective course department, asking them to provide you the eligibility criteria and selection procedure for PHD students
It may take three to six years to complete your PHD, depending on the field you select and your mentor
The general eligibility criteria for PHD students are as follows :(though it may vary from university to university)
In majority of the institutes, Master's Degree is an essential pre-requisite for a Ph.D. while others admit graduates too.
It is important that you have good scores in common entrance tests such as GRE and English Language examinations like TOEFL.
Internships or other work experience will add to your qualifications
Ph.D. course work essentially includes research and documentation work. This requires large amounts of money. In addition to this, you have to consider living expenses for the entire duration of the course. The annual expenses of most Ph.D. students are about $28,000-$40,000 per year
