First preference must be given to top IIT and NIT. After that BIT then VIT, better to prefer for top Government Colleges as their Academic fee is almost around 3-3.5 lakh course for btech while 10.5-11 lakh for private college, now its your choice. Best wishes.

* To become an Astronaut you have to get these basic requirements-
-Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in engineering, biological science, physical science, or mathematics.
- Should be a citizen of India
-You should be at least 21 years of age by the time you join. Age relaxation is there for SC/ST candidates.
-At least 1,000 hours pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft. Flight test experience is highly desirable.
* After graduation candidates can appear for the entrance exam which is held by NASA for the recruitment of scientists, Astronauts etc.

It'll be a little difficult to say anythnig about VIT because last year around 4,720 students were offered admissions at VIT University ,Vellore and Chennai.
Out of this number, 3600 seats were offered to students at VIT Vellore and the remaining 1,120 at VIT Chennai but only the first 20,000 rank holders are called for counselling.
All major branches like CS, EC, EE are likely to close at 9,000 in main campus and 15,000 in chennai campus.
However, with your current rank in SRMJEE you may get Computer Science, Civil, Electronics and Communication etc. For more details request you to speak with the college officials.
