Dear Student, You can join as a Civil Judge Junior division cum magistrate or Additional District n Session Judge in lower courts. You must be law graduate after 12th. For CJJD you have to clear first entrance exams, then final exams followed by personal interview. If you have seven year of practice as n Advocate you can take examination of AD n SJ in same process. The following are the two steps process for becoming judge in India as under. Step-1: The first requirement to become a judge in India is to possess an LL.B. Degree from any University/College recognised by the Bar Council of India. Step-2: Once the LL.B. Degree is in hand, the graduate has to compete for the State Judicial Services Examination. The examination is held by respective State Governments from time to time. The examination consists of three stages Preliminary, Mains, and Viva-Voice. You can directly join as Mr justice in High Court, if you have experience of practice of ten years as an Advocate in District n Session Courts or in High court. There are a number of top law colleges in India that you can apply for, but you should know the admission process. Most of the colleges or universities that offer courses in law have their own entrance examinations. One of the most recognised examinations is CLAT which stands for the Common Law Entrance Test.
