Asma.If you are a postgraduate applying for PhD or just about to write a research proposal for your Master's degree and you don't know how to write a research proposal, my honest view is that you are going to have a very hard time ahead of you. The reason is that any postgraduate course worth its duration should have a subject related to Research Methodology which covers the basics of preparing a research proposal. This subject is one of the most important subjects which is useful not only for a Postgraduate research proposal but also for MPhil or PhD. Columbia University is one of the top universities in the world and there is absolutely no way an applicant can get admission who clueless about writing a research proposal. Finally, some universities expect applicants to write a 5000-6000 word research proposal. Some universities might expect 2000 - 3000 word research proposal. Each has its own template which you should follow. Giving you the relevant information is the easiest part. But your question raises doubts about your capability to write a thesis in the first place. I graduated with a MBA in UK 18 years ago. This is not an easy ride when the basics are weak. My apologies for such criticisms.
