Not as such. For some branches like, Mechanical, ECE etc. Thapar University is good over SRM. I agree to a point that in SRM, you can get more exposure than Thapar University.

After 12th commerce, you have many options like you can do B.Com that is Bachelor of Commerce or BBA (Bachelor in Business Administration), BBM (Bachelor in Business Management), BCA (Bachelor in computer administration), BCM (Bachelor in Computer Management).
You can go for BA also (Bachelor in Arts). Some basic courses after the India in 12th commerce.

Your rank is little bit high. As you belong to OBC category, you must score more than 45, like 90 above in order to get a seat in NIT or IIIT. I am providing you the link, please check that you will get which NIT or IIIT on basis of your rank.

Sgsits provide admission on the basis of JEE rank and marks. Your 12th marks does't that matter. So if you are talking about entrance so, they give admission on the basis of JEE. Good luck.
