First, I would like to clarify a misconception among people that Chemical Engineering is more about chemistry. Chemical Engineering has lot of diverse applications in various process industries, oil and gas, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, polymers etc. Coming to Chemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM), the department offers several electives which are industrially relevant. The department has facilities such as Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF) and High Performing Computing Environment (HPCE) for conducting research. The department also offers lab courses to students to learn software's such as Aspen Plus, Mathematics, Abacus and MATLAB which is uncommon among other colleges which offer Chemical Engineering because the cost of these packages are very high. The department has various research groups working on Polymer sciences, Biochemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Control, Renewable Energy, Reaction Engineering and Fluid Mechanics etc. Our process control group is rated among the best in the world. The department offers a unique minor called systems engineering which is the most preferred minor among students from different departments. Students get placed in different core companies such as ITC, HUL, Shell, Reliance, Dr. Reddy's, Sumitomo etc. Student receive offers from non core sectors such as Finance, Consulting, IT etc. A small group of students apply for higher studies and if my memory serves right most of them get admitted to highly ranked universities abroad. I believe this gave you an overall picture about Chemical Engineering at IIT M.

As I am a student of Grant Medical College I think I am eligible for answering your question. Talking about life in Grant Medical College:

Once the result of IPU CET Law 2018 is declared, candidates will be invited for the counselling process which will be based on the merit secured by them. The counselling will be held online where candidates will be required to register for the process and choose their preferred college. The university admission council then allots seat to candidates based on their marks and preferred choice. Once the seat is allotted, the candidate will have to submit the fees to confirm the seat. The entire admission process of IPU CET Law 2018 ends in the month of August with the commencement of classes.

Civil needs too much experience and hard work. I guess minimum 5 years to get quite good income.
It starts from 5,000 or free training (like you have to work like 3-6 months for free then salary starts, in some cases you change job another company again force you to work free for at least 1-3 months) to 78 lacs/annum or more, as an employee.
Generally, people in civil engineering in IIT Bombay sit for placements in IT companies or they go for an MBA or higher studies. The tag IIT Bombay, rarely helps during placements (yes, that's the reality). It is all your hard work that would matter after you get placed in the core field.
Average placements for IIT Bombay Civil is 7 lakhs per year. And all your future in this stream will depend on how you perform in practicality. If you do good, your pay scale will rise.
