Each year the conducting CAT is passed to one of Iims and it always adds to the anticipation of students. However, as an aspirant it is crucial to focus on preparations as the kind of paper that will be thrown at you is out of your control. Candidates must score an overall CAT overall percentile of 85 (minimum). Candidates with sharp academic records are awarded with higher points during the shortlisting round. The expected cut off for PGP and PGPBA is-
General- 85%
NC OBC- 75%
SC/ST- 70-65%
PWD- 60%

It is recommended to begin the study for this exam as early as possible because it will provide you enough time to understand the topics and revise regularly. The best time to start preparing for the GATE exam is in your college. You can start in your 2nd year of engineering. Keep following GATE preparation time table until you complete your entire syllabus for each section of the exam. Experts suggest that candidates should at least give 4-5 hours daily for their studies, so candidates must keep this in mind.
It is important to understand the GATE syllabus and exam pattern before starting preparation. In the initial days of preparation, students can understand the syllabus and do frequent revisions. After a few months of light studies, students should be more focused on GATE preparation, tentatively starting in October 2023. Also, new topics can be studied thoroughly, and old ones can be revised every day. It is advised to the students to focus their last month of preparation on revision.
