With the current competition level, advanced digitisation and increased use of RTI services, I don't think it is too easy for any company to hire candidates just based on acquaintances. Even if selected, the chances of the student being terminated are higher during or after the probation period if the candidate possesses the skill set a company requires. And, if a student already has the skill set a company is looking for, the chances of his/her recruitment is much higher without needing any acquaintances. The minimum qualification required for admission into a diploma course is passing of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)/tenth standard/equivalent examination, with at least 35 percent in Science and maths subjects. Yes, you can apply again and hope for the best.
