In that much rank u will get mechanical in VIT vellore in first category but u will get cse in second or third category.Let me explain you the admission system here. Rank in VIT to get admission should be 90,000, so you can get admission in VIT from the 6th category as well. There are various categories as well. With each category admission, fees go high. First category closed till 15,000 rank, and you can get cse till 7000 rank rank but there are 2nd category as well, if you want cse, but you have to pay more for that.The placements in VIT are good .CSE average package goes to 6-7 lakhs per annum

There's nothing known as a "better stream". All streams are best in their ways and cannot be compared. Although, if you to compare engineering with medicine, they both have pros and cons and MBBS is a slow career while engineering will be dynamic.
