If I talk about the maximum rank, it depends on two things. First, category and branch. If I talk about the general category opening and closing rank for the year 2017, the opening rank for CS was 699 and closing(maximum) rank was 5030. Apart from this, opening rank for ECE was 1531 and closing(maximum) rank was 8157.

The only way to crack maths is practice. You need to start practicing basics. Start from any good for CAT quantitative books like R S Aggrawal or Arun Sharma. If you find problems with these books difficult to solve than refer the maths books of 8th,9th, and 10th. In this way, you will be able to make your concepts clear. Quantitative part is as important as Verbal. Student good in quants will be able to tackle DI/LR easily.
