In my opinion IIIT Sonepat is generally better than LPU for a B.Tech CSE degree if you look at academics and placements objectively, but the choice still depends on what you want from college. IIIT Sonepat is an Institute of Information Technology established under a national framework, and entry is through JEE Main + JoSAA counselling, which itself is competitive — so simply getting in gives a certain quality filter and credibility. Its placement stats in recent years show average packages around ₹13–16 LPA with the highest up to ~₹40–₹60 LPA, and recruiters include recognised companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Infosys, TCS, IBM, and Jio, though the percentage of students placed is moderate (around 60–70 %) rather than extremely high. 

LPU, on the other hand, is a large private university that hosts a huge number of recruiters and claims thousands of job offers, but the average package for CSE is typically lower (around ₹7–10 LPA), and the really high offers are usually limited to the top few students.  LPU can still be good if you are budget-conscious, want a lively campus life, and plan to work hard on skills and internships, but IIIT Sonepat generally has stronger academic credibility and more solid core placements for CSE due to its more focused tech environment and JEE-based selection.

So if your main goal is a stronger technical degree with better placement prospects for engineering, IIIT Sonepat is usually the better choice if affordability and a broader campus experience matter more, then LPU is still acceptable but not strictly superior in core outcomes.
