The standard route to this is not as such reading any specific books at this stage (I'm not discouraging you from reading popular books on cosmology, which you should whenever you can). What you need is a strong background in Physics which translates to a strong undergraduate and graduate (Ph.D) training in Physics.
You can start specialising to Cosmology during 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate by taking courses on General Relativity, Astrophysics and possibly even Cosmology if the course is offered. There's also a question about experimental or theoretical Cosmology (which is not clear from your question) and as such the approaches very different. I'm not familiar with the courses focused on experimental aspects. So, I'll leave it at that.

For software testing (Automation Testing):
Testing domain requires Shellscript and Python with automation framework such as robot or worked with openstack (NFV) in Python. Java programming language with Selenium framework or with Opendaylight (SDN) related development.
For hardware testing:
Working with switch and router(L2/L3) also expertise with routing protocol testing such as OSPF, BGP and other protocols such as RSTP, MPLS, RIP , IPv6 ,SNMP, SONET, SDH.

The eligibility for joining merchant navy is:
1. Passed class 12 with physics, chemistry and mathematics.
2. Candidates have to be unmarried and Indian citizens (male or female).
3. Normal vision is required but glasses up to plus or minus 2.5 may be allowed.
4. Admission is through an entrance followed by a screening test and a main written examination.
5. After clearing the test, there is an interview and a medical test.
6. You also need to complete a ship-training course prior to the employment. The course is generally short-term where the candidates are taught basic security concerns of voyaging.
There are some private institutes, which offer training for merchant navy as well. These institutes prepare students for jobs such as deck cadets and marine engineering jobs.
After class 12, you are eligible to study the following merchant navy courses:
