Chandigarh University conducts preliminary counseling after Phase 1 results of JEE Main to allow early applicants partake in the closing process of seat allocation and branch assignment. Counseling is updated after Phase 2 results for those candidates who have scored better in the second phase based on the best rank for merit scholarships and for more popular branches. This phased, fair, and transparent method of admissions mean students can effectively place themselves in the most competitive B.E.programs. The admission system caters to both JEE-qualified and non- JEE candidates through CUCET in a professional and merit-focused manner

A strong Phase 1 JEE Main percentile can significantly improve your chances of receiving a scholarship at Chandigarh University. The institution values competitive exam achievements and offers structured merit based scholarship categories for engineering aspirants. Students with higher percentile may qualify for tuition fee benefits, depending on the defined scholarships slabs. Importantly ,5% of engineering seats are earmarked for JEE based scholarship candidates, which provides a clear incentive for high performers. Applying early with a good Phase 1 score can also help in faster scholarship processing and seat confirmation. Even if

Hi.

Yes, Chandigarh University (CU) will accept your best JEE Main percentile from either Phase 1 or Phase 2.

How CU Considers JEE Main Scores

  • CU does not differentiate between JEE Main Phase 1 or Phase 2

  • You are allowed to submit the attempt in which you scored higher

  • CU considers:

    • Best percentile

    • or Best All India Rank (AIR)
from any one JEE Main session

This is exactly in line with NTA's policy, where the best of multiple attempts is treated as valid.

Of course, you can easily apply to Chandigarh University soon after your JEE Main Phase 1 results! The university has an open admission policy; it not only considers your JEE scores for admission but also for better scholarships in all engineering branches. Usually, the prescribed way is to apply to CUCET at cucet.cuchd.in and to enter your JEE score at the appropriate time, following which you are eligible for counseling. Moreover, there is another good part if your JEE Main score is anything less than or equal to 100001 (you have a high rank) you can get direct admission without CUCET, you are also eligible for scholarships based on

Chandigarh University understands that many students aim to improve their performance in Phase 2 of JEE Main. Therefore, the admission process usually allows applicants to revise or update their percentile after Phase 2 results are declared. This ensures that candidates are evaluated based on their best available score. An upgraded percentile can improve merit positioning, especially in competitive branches like CSE or IT. It can also influence scholarship opportunities under the JEE-based quota, which accounts for 5% of engineering seats. By offering score update flexibility, the university ensures students are not restricted to their

Hi.

Chandigarh University (CU) considers the best JEE Main score for B.Tech/B.E. admissions, regardless of whether it comes from Phase 1 or Phase 2.

How CU Considers JEE Main Scores

  1. Multiple Attempts Accepted

    • CU allows students to submit scores from either JEE Main Phase 1 or Phase 2.

    • You do not need to wait for both phases; even a Phase 1 score is valid.

  2. Best Score Policy

    • If a student appears in both phases, CU will consider the higher percentile / better All India Rank (AIR) for:

      • Branch allotment

      • Scholarship eligibility (merit-based fee waiver)

  3. Score Submission

    • You must upload the official JEE Main scorecard for the attempt you want

A General BA course will give you a basic idea of the subject and a base knowledge. But a BA Hons course will provide you with in-depth knowledge in a specific area. The difference between a BA and a BA Hons is their depth, difficulty, and focus.

For example, you'll find the curriculum of a BA Hons course including thesis, practical, project, and research. That's why a BA Hons is relatively difficult. Also, there might be some additional conditions during the BA Hons course admission.

You should avoid mentioning any low marks or shortcomings about yourself in any of the application documents, including the Statement of purpose  (SOP). There are very few universities that ask you about your gap year. For them, you can mention the reason for the gap between your studies. Generally, no university asks about low grades during your study period as your selection depends on various criteria like exam scores, student profile, financials, and so on. However, if there is some issue that is clearly visible in your marksheets or your resume, make sure to provide a logical reason behind that event.
