There is no compulsion. You can take the subjects which will help you to score good in class 12th exams i.e. subjects which are easy and help you in scoring maximum marks in PCM group. Also, give more priority to maths as it would help you in your engineering. Do not loose your grip on this subject.

If you study well during this one year, definitely, you will get good rank in the entrance exam and your chances of getting admission in a good college will also increase. For higher studies, some universities abroad don't accept students with a year gap, but it is a rare case.

In 2023, the minimum CMAT percentile was 75 for BIT Mesra MBA for the general all-India category candidates. This cutoff is applicable for the General category candidates. Candidates with this much percentile have a good chance of selection. Further, this may change, as the cutoff depends upon various dynamic factors, such as the number of candidates, the highest score, seat availability, etc.

I would suggest you a book named Quantum CAT by Arihant publications, which is good for quant section.
You can focus more on speed and distance, time and work and number systems as number of questions come from these. But, you have to take care of other chapters too as it is also important.

You still have the time and there is no need to worry at all. Consistent efforts and proper time plan will help you perform better in your studies.
Identity your learning style i.e. how you learn better. Is it by doing, by drawing or by reading . Also remember that whatever you study you must practice at least by writing it 5 times.
You can achieve better by being regular and following a routine.
