Just to clarify, no book or teacher can make you a director. See, a film director makes films and films are a medium for story telling. So, you need to have a story, you need to find your own voice and this, fortunately, or unfortunately, will be your never-ending-personal-struggle. But you can learn the technical aspects of film-making and that's where books and teachers come into the picture. Now, since we're over with the rough part, I can suggest a few books now. These mediums, books, tutorials and websites, have taught me everything I know about film-making and I'm still learning. Note - To direct a film crew and cast, you will have to study all aspects of film-making, at-least the basics and COMMUNICATION with your cast and crew will be the most important factor. Editing - You can download a lot of tutorials online but the basic approach to editing or it's philosophical reason can be best found in, In the blink of an eye by Walter Much.
