Hi,I really can't comment on this topic because both have their own merits and demerits. Going by what you are looking for I think you should join the Merchant Navy because of the luxurious kind of lifestyle you want. Merchant Navy offers you a really good salary. The merchant navy is a civilian career and therefore less restrictive. You can travel all over the world and best part is you can leave it whenever you want to and it gives you so much money that you can start your own business once you don't want to continue it. Merchant Navy is an Ordinary Man Job, Risk is less (except piracy), "Can Work Till you are young” and there is only one department. While working in a Merchant Navy is much more than working on a vessel, it involves a lot of personal sacrifices and commitment to live a selfless life. Economic benefits: - other than hefty pay scale, there are other economic benefits that you could enjoy. For example government. Of India gives seafarers the status of NRI who sail for 182+ days a year. This makes you eligible for tax benefits.
