The total tuition fee for IIT Bombay MDes is INR 1 Lacs as per an unofficial source. Students belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD category or a child of institution staff are exempted from paying the tuition fee. There is a concessional and a non-concessional fee for candidates belonging to General/ EWS/ OBC-NCL category. The concessional is offered on tuition fee. Candidates apart from the tuition fee are required to pay examination fee, medical fee, etc. Students not staying in hostel are exempted from the payment of hostel fee. 

Apart from the course fee, candidates also have to pay a registration fee of INR 300 for General/ OBC Male and INR 150 for SC/ ST/ PwD and female candidates.

Admission to IIT Bombay's MDes programme is based on the applicants' performance in CEED, followed by a written test and inteview conducted by the institute. Candidates who have a valid CEED score and fulfil the preset eligibility requirements can visit the institute's official website to submit an online application. Such application must be submitted along with the required documents and the applicable application fee which varies from INR 150 to INR 300 for different reservation categories. The institute shortlists applicants based on their CEED score.  Shortlisted candidates have to appear for written test and an interview round at IDC School of Design.
