Hi Vikram,
As far as I know you can do summer training after your 3rd year 2nd semester.
To get placed as an intern it will be an added advantage if you know any one working in the company then take their reference, by which you can easily join the company.
To apply for internship you need to take a letter from your placement cell stating that you are academically strong and have good behavior and they can refer you to that particular company.
Along with this letter you can post your resume at the companies career portal to get your training done and can apply for the internship program.

your % is decent. but you dint mention which course your pursuing in b.tech assuming that your branch is mech. i suggest you to prepare for gate and write the examination. that is the best way because you get a chance to prove yourself better than your % . Best colleges in india give admission only through gate.
