Central government jobs -which include departments like Railways, IT department, Judiciary, Civil supplies etc.
State government jobs - which include departments baking & other financial institutions, educational institutions etc.
One has to appear for exams - it is different for every type of job. For eg : For IAS / IPS / IFS / IRS etc. Civil services exams need to be given. For Banks - BANK PO exams need to be given. For income tax officers / customs and central excise offices / sales tax etc. - staff selection services exam need to be given.
