No, you are not eligible to get Lateral entry admission in CSE after completing Diploma in mechanical engineering. Because the Diploma & engineering are the linked courses, so that those who did their Diploma in which branch are must have to take that stream in engineering also.

Some tips for preparing IIT JAM in 6 months
More books create confusion, so go for best books suggested by Toppers. Pick up the topics in the study plan line by line and prepare it. After completing the topics solve the question of that chapter. Make your own notes to understand easily during the exam. After completing the whole syllabus solved the previous year question papers to get an idea about the paper level. The conducting IIT also provide the IIT JAM Question Papers with Answer key. Also, give the mock test to boost your speed and accuracy. Revision is important so revise whole the syllabus before the exam. Good luck.

Hello,
It seems that you have obtained a bit less marks, and hence a bit lower ranking. I think there are around 100 seats available under OBC category. So, you can imagine yourself about your position. However, do not loose hope till last spot round that normally is conducted to fill up vacant seats. You may get pleasant surprise.
Best wishes to you.

Doctorate degree is given to those who have completed their Ph.D in any particular field. It is also given to those who are research scholars and have an approved thesis. In the field of engineering, B.Tech and then M.Tech would qualify one to be a research scholar.
