Hi,
* Generally, candidates join lateral B.Tech course after completing diploma in any engineering field to get direct entry into the second year. Degree course will open more opportunities for you.
* B.E/B.Tech cannot be pursued through correspondence mode as such degrees are not approved by AICTE. You may opt for regular course as it always score more than a correspondence one.
* To be eligible, you need to score minimum aggregate of 60% marks in the diploma course. You need to sit for Lateral Entry Entrance Test or LEET which is conducted at state level. Some colleges and Universities too conduct their own lateral entry tests.

The course selection depends on a whole lot of factors. You need to take into account your interests, your career goals before choosing any subject. Engineering specialisation and specially metallurgy won't help in any MBA subject.

There is hardly any difference between the two. PGDM is a diploma course whereas MBA is a degree course. Most top bschools including IIMs go for PGDM because it allows them more flexibility to change and update the course as per industry requirements. A MBA course structure is very difficult to change as it requires a lot of approval from the university that offers the degree. So more than PGDM or MBA, the institute plays a bigger role.
