The eligibility criteria for admission to CUSAT for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. Lateral Entry) are:

• Any three-year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks.


• Candidates who have completed 3-year Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology offered by CIPET with not less than 60% marks are eligible for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Lateral Entry.


• Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.


• SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.


• For Instrumentation and Control Engineering, 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation or Electronics awarded by a board recognised by the department of technical education, Govt. of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks is required.


• A pass in the Diploma Examination in Engineering/Technology conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Kerala or other states or any other equivalent examination after undergoing an institutional course of minimum 3 years duration with a minimum of 50 percent marks or equivalent.


• Candidates should be on permanent technical / professional employment for at least two years at the time of application after passing the Diploma Examination in any of the following type of establishments: Government Organizations, Quasi - Government Organizations, Industrial firm duly registered under Society’s Act, Public or Private limited companies registered under Companies Act.

To apply for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. Lateral Entry) at CUSAT, candidates must have a three-year Diploma in engineering/technology with at least 60% marks. The admission is through the CUSAT Common Admission Test. Candidates can apply for the programme by visiting the CUSAT website and following the admission process. The eligibility criteria and admission process are as follows:

• Any three-year Diploma in engineering/technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks.


• Candidates who have completed 3-year Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology offered by CIPET with not less than 60% marks are eligible for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Lateral Entry.


• Admission is through the CUSAT Common Admission Test.


• The duration of the programme is 6 semesters, with entry to the third semester of the regular B.Tech program.

Candidates can seek admission only to the branch of engineering/technology in which they possess a diploma. Additionally, candidates should be on permanent technical/professional employment for at least two years at the time of application after passing the Diploma examination in any of the following types of establishments: Government Organizations, Quasi-Government Organizations, Industrial firm duly registered under Society’s Act, Public or Private limited companies registered under Companies Act, and Government.

For reserved category students, the admission criteria for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. Lateral Entry) at CUSAT is as follows:
- Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
- SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.
- Any three-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks.

To get admission to B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering at ACS College of Engineering, students can apply through one of the following processes:
1. Common Entrance Test (CET) and Selection Process
2. COMEDK and Selection Process

The eligibility criteria for admission include:
- Passing Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th standard or equivalent examination recognised by AICTE and State Government in Physics and Mathematics subjects along with Chemistry / Electronics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study.
- Obtaining a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC).
- Qualifying in one of the following entrance exams: CET/ COMED-K / JEE / AIEEE.

The department offers various courses, including Data Structures, Electronic Circuits & Logic Design, Design And Analysis Of Algorithms, Database Application, Computer Graphics, System Software, Unix System Programming, Web Programming, and Microprocessor.

The department has good infrastructure, with separate spaces for different laboratories, including Computer Programming Lab, Data structure Lab, Database management lab, Analysis and Design of Algorithm Lab, and application software such as ORACLE 10G and Visual studio.

The quality policy of the department includes empowering stakeholders in the process of continuous improvement, inculcating the importance of interdisciplinary research, and progressively updating practical implementations towards entrepreneurship.

Diploma holders in engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in the final examination can also apply for admission to the corresponding branch of Second Year engineering, provided they take the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the CET Cell, Govt. of Karnataka.
