Please do not have any pre-conceived notion that freshers do not fit well in a MBA curriculum. It is true that after having work experience, one is able to relate more to the MBA curriculum but that is only with regards to specific subjects and functional areas. In SPJIMR, we are taught a wide gamut of subjects covering diverse fields. And freshers have their own strengths w.r.t the work-ex people. They come with a fresh mind and no baggage. Work experience people had to unlearn a lot of things they did in their workplace but the freshers have a clean slate. Freshers tend to think out of the box since they do not reflect upon past experiences in work place. SPJIMR believes in the virtue which the freshers bring in PGDM batch and so ratio of freshers to work-ex people in SPJIMR is higher than other premier B-schools across India.
Regarding switching to Operations post finishing B.E. the general trend would suggest that Operations and Information Management are work-ex heavy specializations. People with experience in shop floors and operations or SCM background have a definite advantage over freshers in this field. But that does not stop you from applying in Operations. If your heart truly lies in operations and you can convince the admission panel about your knack in operations via your admission form and interview process, then there is nobody to stop you. Also SPJIMR provides two alternatives while applying for a specialization. I would suggest that fill your first and second preferences judiciously. So you can have an alternative to Operations to fill in the second preference. Please note, you will get admission call from SPJIMR for only one specialization. General trend is that freshers apply more for Marketing and Finance than for Operations and Information Management.

Basic eligibility for purusing MBA in Aviation is:
Aspirant must have passed a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum two years of work experience in the aviation industry.
So eligibility criteria may differ in different institutes. As each college have their own policy and procedure for admission.
