With a 60% in Class 12, candidates can get admitted to the Institute of Hotel Management Silvsassa (IHM Silvassa), but only if they do well inthe NCHMCT JEE entrance exam. The cut-off scores determine the eligibility for the counseling and interview stages. The NCHMCT JEE is the only entrance test that is accepted for admission to IHM Silvassa's BSc programme.

Depending on the course, IHM Silvassa's admissions procedure is either entrance or merit-based. Candidates can apply for admission and take the necessary entrance exam, such as NCHMCT JEE, if they meet the eligibility conditions. Candidates can pay the course fee and guarantee their enrollment if they make it past the institute's cutoff.
On the basis of their academic merit, such as their Class 12 aggregate, candidates are shortlisted for the certification programme.

3. Arranging the data in ascending order we get,

10,11,1112,13,13,14,16,16,17,17,18

As n=12, even

So, median is the mean of (M2)th and (M2+1)th observation.

=6thobservation +7thobservation2

M=13+142=272=13.5.

So, deviation of respective observation about the median. M,|xiM| are

1. Mean of the given observation is.

x¯=4+7+8+9+10+12+13+178

=808=10.

Deviation of the respective observation about the mean x¯ i.e.,  xix¯ are 4–10,7–10,8–10,9–10,10–10,12–10,13–10,17–10

=6, -3, -2, -1,0,2,3,7

The absolute value of the deviation i.e.,  |xix¯| are 6,3,2,1,0,2,3,7.

Therefore, the required mean deviation about the mean is

M.D= (x¯)=1ni=1n|xix¯|=6+3+2+1+0+2+3+78

=248
