The aim of the PU CET UG 2026 examination is to determine which candidates are most qualified for admission to the undergraduate programs being offered by Panjab University, along with its affiliated colleges, and for which the PU CET UG 2026 examination is a prerequisite (BSc (Hons.) under the Hons. School System (CBCS), and B. Pharmacy) programs. The examination is also designed to be rigorous in nature, with the goal of eliminating bias in the selection of candidates.

The candidates are ranked and classified according to their performance in the examination, and it's still one part of the PU CET UG 2026, which features multiple rounds. Even in such a case, the candidates with the highest ranking are offered admission to the programme of their choice.
