Since you are already pursuing engineering and you want to do a diploma course in journalism, i would like to say that both the fields are totally different. Since you have asked the question i would like to say that Journalism as a career is very challenging and requires a lot of hard work and patience. The main objective of a journalist is to give relevant news and educate the mass population about what all is happening around them. Basically journalism is of two types- print and electronic journalism. Electronic journalism is related to news channels and print journalism is related to all the magazines and news papers.
