Pay attention to minute details such as the expression, vocabulary, precision, grammar and your communication ability and lucidity. Good written English is essential for clearing the written papers of the CAT 2010. You can improve your written English in many ways; for starters, read a National Daily Newspaper like the Hindu, Times of India or the Hindustan Times every day and at least three weekly News Magazines on a weekly basis.A large number of students who qualify the CAT test are from the engineering background and hence are good in Maths. The others aspiring to do an MBA must not underestimate the importance of this subject in clearing the MBA entrance exam and must work towards gaining an expertise in it. The only way to do this is to take private coaching from a very early stage. The section on Logic and Reasoning ability in the written level of the MBA entrance exam is the one that will require you to have basic knowledge of Maths and Statistics, besides of course logical thinking in general.

As you want to pursue MBA in Media and Advertising, i would like to say that MBA in Media and Advertisement is a rare course and very few institutes provide MBA in Media and Advertisement rather i would suggest you to opt for PG in Media and Advertisement. Also there are many good institutes that provide you this course. Media is a very broad term which includes many things such as journalism, production, direction, cinematography etc. and advertising is also a part of it. Now as you want distance learning institutes, i would say that the possibilities of good distance education institutes can be less as Media being more of a practical field requires a lot of practical knowledge and exposure but this wont be possible in the case of distance learning. So it would be better to go for a regular course or distance learning will be advisable if you are already working with media group or an advertising agency. From your query, I presume that you have not been placed by your B School or you have done a correspondence MBA program. The institute from which you did your MBA matters a lot. I feel sad when I see so many youngsters jumping on the MBA bandwagon just because everyone is doing it. They are least bothered about the standing of the institute. Apart from posting your resume on job sites, I would suggest, that you get in touch with people who are working in HR right now, through your network of friends or relatives. Lot of companies prefer recruiting through internal referrals. You can also forward your resume to reputed organizations so that they can intimate you, if an opening comes up. Unarguably your resume is the most critical tool. Take professional help, to ensure that your resume is structured properly.
