There are various courses related to Computer software and application it generally depends upon your taste of interest.
Some of the certification options are:
Java/J2EE - The server side software development of web is mostly done by this most secure language option. Most of the banks in India and abroad implement their web applications using Java/J2EE only.
.NET - This is among most popular languages which are direct counterparts of Java. These are mainly used for light weight application development on the server side and client side. .NET is also easy to master compared to the long Java Library.
The other options for the courses include, i am listing most prominent ones from job point of view:
Oracle/Mysql/DB2/DBA - This is one of the most reliable course options but you will not get any work of software development on its basis, yet you can continue doing it if you have interest in DBMS.
CCNA/MCSE - These networking certifications can employ you as a network engineer and again even in the recession period these were the most reliable career options, if not most exciting.
Between java & .NET i would suggest .NET and you being from ECE branch, Networking courses like CCNA should be easier for you.

MICAT 2015 will have the following sections - Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative, Verbal, Psychometric and Creative Writing.
• For Logical Reasoning: The mix of question types can include word association, statement/assumption, data sufficiency, cause-effect, and problem/answer figures. These are purely common sense questions.
• For General Awareness: Go through websites such as Afaqs, CampaignIndia/Asia, Nielsen, Newswire, Thinking Aloud, Reuters, etc. Know brand logos and taglines well. Read up on latest mergers, joint ventures, and other business news besides general information about the Indian economy, UN-related news, names of prominent industry people in the fields of media, marketing, advertising & business. Besides this, read the news regularly to be up-to-speed with general social issues.
• For Quantitative/Analytical section: Brush up on basic concepts of geometry, profit & loss, simple & compound interest, relations & functions, probability, data interpretation, linear equations, work/time, permutation/combination, speed/time, mixtures, basic calculus (integration/differentiation) and the likes. The questions should be tackled with an analytical outlook. They will test your logic, common sense & approach in terms of application word problems, more so than your memory of extremely complicated formulae.
• For Verbal: You can be given a couple of essays/passages and asked MCQs based on your reading. There is no set way to prepare for this, except by brushing up on your language & reading comprehension skills.
• For creative writing section: Build your writing and creativity skills. You may be given story writing exercises based on a series of pictures, justification of issue related essays, and the likes. Ensure your arguments are clearly thought out, logical and make use of relevant examples from your personal knowledge repertoire & general awareness.
• For the psychometric section: There is again no set way to prepare for this section. The test will assess how good a fit you are for MICA and whether you possess the qualities it aspires for its students to have. The questions will be designed to analyze you in terms of personality, attitude, beliefs, abilities, skills, etc.

The Basic eligibility criteria to join Merchant Navy is:
Aspirant must have passed 12th class with physics, chemistry and maths as their main subject.
They must have completed their graduation in the field of Marine Engineering or Nautical Science to join the engineering or navigation fields in the merchant navy.
Candidates completing their graduation in Technical, Mechanical or electrical engineering field are applicable to join the Merchant Navy as Fifth Engineer or Engine Cadet.
