Institute of Hotel Management(IHM)is considered as the best college for hotel management studies in India. Its a central government undertaking college which is guided byNational Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology(NCHMCT). It has is presence in almost all the states. For getting into any of the IHMs, you need to appear for the all india entrance examination organised by the NCHMCT. You need to have a good score in the entrance exam to get into any of the IHMs.
The ranking of the IHMs vary every year, so you can do a little bit of research on the internet to find out the current rankings. The placement opportunities that you will get in IHMs are more than any other private college. Also most of the Management Trainees(MT) hired by the hotels organizations are from IHMs. Hence, you should try your luck first in the IHMs. IHM for hoteliers is like IIT for engineers and IIMs for management students. :D
However, you can also try for private colleges like IIHM etc. The fees for these colleges is usually more than that of IHMs. You should get in contact with the private college in which you are interested in and know about their selection procedure as the selection pattern is different varies from college to college. Some colleges have first come first serve concept, whereas, some may have a GD and written test prior to an interview.
