It's a great advantage you have that your dad is a director, It is advisable to visit film Set's and observe things happening around, look back to your self and identify your skill sets, match and rematch it with the skill sets that a film Director should posses,
If you felt like that you are missing some of the skill sets that a Director should possess take an effort to learn it, Learning can happen several ways,
1) Through Experience and Observations
2) Proper and formal Education
if you wanted to go for second option, you have a number of Film Institutes in our country offering courses in Film Direction for that
Eligibility criteria for most of such courses are 10+2 in any stream

Requirements to Become a Film Director
A film director visualizes how a script can be brought to life and oversees the technical aspects of making a film. They tell cast and crew members in a production what to do and oversee the overall production process. These individuals must be able to manage large groups of people.
Becoming a film director may include attending film school and working up from a production assistant or lower-level team member. Not all aspiring directors find success in the industry. The following table outlines common requirements to become a film director as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS):-
Degree Level- :Varies; many directors have a bachelor's degree
Degree Field:- Film, acting, communication, journalism or another related program
Experience:- 1-5 years of work experience in a related profession, such as acting or film editing
Key Skills:- Strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership skills, creativity, management skills
Technical Skills:- Familiarity with equipment used on a film set, such as recording equipment
Step 1: Earn Bachelor's Degree
lthough not required for all positions, individuals can benefit from formal training through bachelor's degree programs in film, communications or other related majors. Attending an undergraduate program will give an aspiring director the opportunity to learn essential skills and work under the supervision of mentors.
Step 2: Consider Graduate Film Studies
Graduate film studies allow students greater freedom and the opportunity to focus on their professional and creative interests. Programs accept students who don't have an undergraduate degree in film studies, but may require a creative portfolio among the admission materials.
Step 3: Gain Experience and Advance
Many directors have experience as actors, writers or other members of the production team. Because film directing is such a competitive job field, prospective directors need experience working on sets, as well as connections in the industry.
