Accounting is the branch of commerce which deals with keeping financial records, summarizing, reporting and analysing financial transactions etc. An accountant\'s work can range from auditing (formal analysis of an organization\'s financial statements), daily bookkeeping (ensures the accounts are hunky dory), tax records, etc. Accountants also participate in strategies for mergers and acquisitions, quality management, tracking financial performance, tax and health care benefits. Even the most Chief Financial Officers of large corporations have a background in accounting.
Eligibity
Most of the accountant and internal auditor positions require at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. It depends as to what is the approach in getting into MBA. if you want to pursue MBA from an average institute or you want to get into a Tier 1 institute like the IIM's and the MDI's and IIFT and so on. Also depends on the kind of opportunities you have after Graduation. Do you have a decent job in hand? if the answer is yes then you may think of gaining an experience of 5 yrs and then opt for Xpgdm. If the answer is no, pull your socks and prepare for CAT or something and get a decent MBA institute.
Business Analytics is an emerging domain in terms of career opportunities. Every corporate depends heavily on analytics which can help them take business decisions.
