The examination is conducted in three different stages-
The first stage of the exam is called preliminary exam/civil service aptitude test and it comprise of two compulsory papers based on general studies and aptitude test.
The second stage is called Main exam and it comprise of four compulsory papers and two optional papers.
The compulsory papers are One Indian Language, Essay, General Studies and English.
The optional subjects for the exam are as follows:
Agriculture Mathematics, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Mechanical Engineering Botany, Medical Science, Chemistry, Philosophy, Civil Engineering, Physics, Commerce,Political Science ,Economics ,Psychology, Electrical Engineering, Public Administration, Geography, Sociology, Geology, Statistics, Indian, History, Zoology, Law

To take admission in Merchant Navy, you need to pass 12th in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) with 1 year pre-sea training as a deck cadet.
You can also join it directly after B.Tech in marine engineering, mechanical, electrical, electronics & telecommunication, naval architect.
If you pursue B.Sc (Nautical Science) in the officer cadre, it will lead you to become captain after 5-7 years of experience.
Except marine engineering candidates, others have to undergo a 10 months pre-sea training which is offered by many institute and port trusts or recruiting company itself. After that you will be appointed as a 5th or junior engineer. It will take 5-7 years depending on your abilities to become 'chief engineer'.

Palak, If you're creative, you can always consider going for Design and Animation. A good mentor and wise selection of courses with a good school, followed by diligent learning, would get you a head start in your career. However, you must check your suitability for this field. Animation is an art form and a very demanding career. It has ample opportunities for the creatively talented people. Opportunities lie in animation design, game design, graphics, storyboarding, 3d modelling, texturing and lighting, Dynamics and VFX and of course animation (2D and 3D). However, choosing between these must be done after seeing your performance in each of these. So going for a generic course covering all or most of these would be the best way to get started in these careers. Typically you should have good sketching skills to be able to make a sound career in this (if you work hard you can improve your drawing skills tremendously). Nothing but your innermost talent and passion should lead you to the course and the institute you choose. B.Arch is a particular branch of study that deals with the planning and designing of various types of buildings and their structures. The career opportunities for these architects are very high due to the boom in the infrastructure sector. It is a competitive field that includes various types of work. This field covers various works like

Career Opportunities after B.Arch-The career opportunities for these graduates are high at present.
