Hi,
The examination is conducted in three different stages-
The first stage of the exam is called preliminary exam/civil service aptitude test and it comprise of two compulsory papers based on general studies and aptitude test.
The second stage is called Main exam and it comprise of four compulsory papers and two optional papers.
The compulsory papers are One Indian Language, Essay, General Studies and English.
The optional subjects for the exam are as follows:
