You must have finished your 12th Board exams. If you have completed the same then only you can do your degree. Without 12th, Inter exams you cannot do any degree.

Universities in US have 2 admission intake in a year namely:
- Fall(August) intake.
- Spring(January) intake.
So, it is always advisable to take GRE test atleast 7-8 months in advance of your planned admission intake.
So, you may start preparation for GRE from final year of engineering, however please remember your academic should not be compromised while preparing for GRE.
