GRE is to be taken if you desire to pursue your Masters in the USA. You can take the GRE , to help you prepare for the exam you may refer to its official website https://www.ets.org/gre and access the wide variety of practice tests, downloadable materials etc. A practice test before starting the actual preparation is recommended, this will help you understand your weakness and strengths. Regular practice tests thereafter will help you check your progress. Around 3-5 months is ideally required, you may create your study routine as per your convenience and stick to it. Time management is the key.

It's great to see your enthusiasm in studying a totally unrelated field. But don't worry. I do not know your present occupation but take it that you can not join a regular college.
Don't worry. IGNOU, SMUDE are two of the distance learning Universities. You can go to their website and download brochure cum application form. Fill it up, post it online after paying requisite fees & then you can begin the study of journalism.
