GDs are generally held on current topics related to sports, economics, business etc, so you need to be aware of all the latest current affairs in these area, for this you should read newspaper and magazines on regular basis.
GD is a team activity, so while participating you should express your views very clearly at the same time you also should give chance to others members in team to speak.
It is always advisable to take initiative and speak first if you know about the topic, but if you are not aware of the topic you should listen to others first and then speak.
As soon as you get to know the topic don't immediately start the discussion take 1-2 minutes time, jort down the points and then speak.
While speaking in GD your tone should not be aggressive, it should be polite and humble.
