NCERT is best but its language is not easy to understand. You can go for the physics for pradeep publications, chemistry for lakshmi publications, Math for rs agarwal. This is on my observations.

Yes, you get 10 casual leaves per semester or 20 leaves in one academic year. The process is same as always:
1. Get your leaves verified by your Warden.
2. Go to Vaani Mandir for tallying the data.
3. Get permission from your respective Head of Department
4. Again get the final sanctioned leaves verified by your warden.
5. Last step- Collect your GATE Pass from Vaani Mandir.

Unfortunately there are no institutes in Jamshedpur for sound engineering course. Although, you can look for colleges in Ranchi or Kolkata for better prospects. Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata is the best institute for the said course.
