Actually, weightage is given to each component like your UG marks, entrance exam, GD and PI result. More weightage is given to GD and PI mostly. Just make sure that you have average marks. Mostly, when you have the cutoff marks, they will shortlist you for the interview. Then your selection depends on the results of the interview. Of course for prestigious institutions you will need good marks to get in.

Yes you can apply for JEE Main and Advanced conducted in year 2021. The registration process of JEE Main exam January 2021 will be start in the first week of September 2020. While the registration process of April 2021 exam will be start in the first week of February 2021.
