Yes, NEET MDS is absolutely mandatory and there is no way around it. NEET MDS qualification is mandatory even for management quota seats, as per Dental Council of India (DCI) guidelines. No dental college can admit a student into an MDS programme without a valid NEET MDS score. Even for NRI quota and institutional quota seats, a valid NEET MDS score is required.
