The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, Dharamshala came into existence in 1969 as per Himachal Pradesh Act No. 14 of 1968 with its head-quarter at Shimla later shifted to Dharamshala in January 1983. The Board started with a staff of 34 officials which has subsequently increased to 438. The Education Board prescribes syllabus, courses of instructions and text books for school education in Himachal Pradesh besides conducting examinations based on courses listed. At present, the Board conducts examination for the following classes and courses: 10th, 10+2, J.B.T and T.T.C. As many as 5 Lakh candidates annually appear in the examination conducted by the Board. Presently more than 8000 schools are affiliated with the Board. The Board has set up 1650 Examination centres throughout the state. Board also publishes text books for class 1st to 12th. Apart from a Liaison Office at Shimla, the Board has also established 19 Sale Book Depots/Information Centres in the state to cater to the needs of students.

A wide range of options are available for students after 12th grade in India. Since you wish to stay in the field of Biology / Science, these are some courses that you can look into.
1. Biomedical Engine
ering or Biotechnology Engineering. Engineering in the field of Biological Sciences is a relatively new and exciting interdisciplinary field. The industry is fast growing in India and abroad, with various opportunities available after undergraduation. Apart from these 2, programs like Environmental Engineering and Agricultural Engineering are also available in a selected few institutions. All B.Tech programs are 4 year courses unless you opt for Dual Degree programs in places like BITS, IIT, etc which are for 5 years.
Since these courses are nothing like B.Tech in Computer Science or Electronics (mainstream), it is highly recommended that you join a REALLY GOOD college if you opt of these courses.

Better Package will not depend on language i will advise you to improve your logical skills and mathematics (Reasoning mainly). It would be best if you will focus on
1. Data Structure
2. c or c+ + ( for Implementing data structure you must study these languages)
3. Algorithms
Try to master these subjects as much as you can and you will easily get a good package .
Learning language is not so hard but if you master these skills mainly DS and Algorithms then every company will happily give you good package.
But if you still insist then you can Learn Java ( Remember Freshers never get job easily in java as the development in java is of enterprises level they will send you in testing ).
So try to be smart in 6 months training you can learn any language.
most of the syntaxes are same in every language rest the company will give you training but not in problem solving ability )
