Thanx @manmeet
Prateek, do not even think of polytechnic after 10th. First you complete 12th otherwise you will never be eligible for any degree course. Secondly, admission to IITs is through Common entrance test with minimum 65% marks in 12th with PCM subjects. They do not offer admission based on diploma.

Thanx @Manmeet
Defense forces include Air Force, Navy & Army. Navy & Air Force require minimum 10+2 with PCM with min 50% marks or its equivalent. In Army, for general duty soldiers, min qualification is High school or its equivalent. Therefore, if you have taken NIOS certificate which is for senior secondary then it is equivalent and you can apply. However, if your NIOS certificate is for vocational course then it is not equivalent and you can not apply.
