Master's Degree in Nursing:
Another type of registered nurse, known as an advanced practice nurse, must complete a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree programme. Some MSN programs accept applications only from licensed RNs. Advanced practice nurses include nurse-midwives, nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners. Standardized Tests:
First and foremost, we are talking of students who are applying for Nursing in US and for whom English is not a first language. It is necessary that such students take an English Language Proficiency test. For such proposes; Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores demonstrate satisfactory proficiency. Although one can be exempted from the examination if they have earned a Bachelor's or master's degree from at a regionally accredited U. S. college or university or from a post-secondary institution abroad which is recognised by the Ministry of Education in the home country of an English-speaking country only. This test must have been taken within two years prior to the application deadline. Depending on the course being applied to; Graduate Record Exam GRE will also be a requirement while applying to nursing courses in the US. 1) Candidates should have secured minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Masters degree or equivalent exam from any university/college that is recognised by UGC. Aspirants belonging to reserved categories such as OBC (non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PwD are eligible to apply if they have secured minimum 50% aggregate in their Masters degree or equivalent exam.
2) Aspirants who are appearing for their Masters degree final year exam and whose exam result is awaited can also apply for APSET exam. But such aspirants will be offered provisional admission and they need to submit their exam result details at the time of admission.
3) Candidates who possess a Ph.D. degree and who have completed their Masters level examination by September 19, 1991 (irrespective of date when result is declared) will be eligible for 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (that is, from 55% to 50%) for appearing in APSET exam.
4) The official website informs that, Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only. The candidates, whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects may appear in a related subject. Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the post of Assistant Professor. Regards.
