Read Basic books like NCERTs etc. Again, and again to ensure deeper understanding. Make sure your basic concept and standard books are thoroughly prepared first. Follow newspapers (like The Hindu etc.). religiously to evolve understanding about issues. Follow websites like insight on India forum IAS baba etc. To SEE daily questions and current affair materials to ensure your views, opinions and thoughts are aligned with UPSC. Decide on the optional subject and if it is the graduation subject as well then one must complete the syllabus in college (college library and professors become an asset in such case) and solve questions from last 5-year papers. You can skip this till two years before your year of attempt. Focus should be on preparing the static portion of syllabus thoroughly first and make sure you try to follow a timeline as to complete the syllabus within a stipulated time period. Once your static portion is finished then start writing one or two answers per day. Attempt daily quizzes posted on websites like insights etc. For prelims. Always keep UPSC syllabus and previous year papers as your focal point and your preparation should revolve around that. UPSC is quite dynamic, and many things would change once you attempt it in 2024 but the core I. e static portion of syllabus would remain more or less the same.
