The criteria differ from institutes to institutes. But mostly for private institutes, the minimum percentage requirement is 50%. Example: IILM University, Gurugram offers eligibility at a 50% aggregate followed by an interview process for selection. So it usually differs from university to university. There may also be Group Discussion, Aptitude test or Audio Visual rounds depending upon different colleges.

There are predominantly two examinations for the best B-Schools in India which CAT for all the IIMs and XAT for XLRI Jamshdpur. For preparation the best way in my opinion is to join an MBA coaching institute like Career Launcher/Time and attend its test series. It would take at least 6 months of gruelling preparation but nothing less would do in this case.
