However, if you are talking about SMU's programme of Diploma in Hospitality & Catering Management, yes, it is a correspondence programme and it is the institutes decision which programme should be correspondence and which should be regular, so there is no answer to why.

Gujarat which has seen huge growth in last few years definitely has a flourishing BPO industry, specifically Vadodara which has become a BPO hub in last few years. Infact Vadodara is the only city in Gujarat where four languages are spoken. Gujarat-based companies like Motif and eInfochips are already growing and expanding themselves outside Gujarat. Similarly, with presence of players like Minacs and Mphasis in Vadodara, there is recognition towards this sector.

As you have already started your studies in IME suggestible would be that you continue with your course and complete it. As far as getting admission is concerned I don't see that you would face any problem getting admission after completing IME Technician course. As far as suggesting the name of the colleges accepting IME is concerned I am really doubtful as IME is considered equivalent to Diploma so there is no surety that the colleges will accept it as a degree.
