As suggested earlier, there are no important topics for jee. We never know which topic is given the highest weightage of marks until we have a look at the question paper. but there sure are some ways to avoid the sea of syllabus and get into an IIT. to play SMART.
you must be smart enough to pick the easiest yet relatively important topics to gain the maximum marks possible.have a look at previous papers and analyse the importance of topic.
and it is always a safe bet to have an average in all subjects than one or two favourites.
Lets start with out subjects.
1)MATHS - probability, integral calculus, coordinate geometry, straight lines, complex numbers, matrices and determinants. each chapter needs one specific skill to be an expert in that area.
for eg, probability needs good analysis of question, coordinate geometry needs good imagination of the bigger picture of the problem. give more time to the topic you feel would fit your style.
2)PHYSICS- rotational motion, oscillations and waves, laws of motion, current electricity, magnetism, modern physics. and then there are little less important but much easier topics compared to the former like modern physics, optics, and thermodynamics. so better invest time on these easier topics than nightmare like rotational motion. magnetism and current electricity are important and closely related topics. knowledge on one topic highly coordinates for the second.
3)CHEMISTRY (good knowledge of chemistry can save a lot of your time in exam) - coordination compounds(must do-most imp topic), chemical thermodynamics(similar to the one in physics), chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, S and P block elements, solid state and when it comes to inorganic chemistry, good knowledge of NCERT is a must(saves a lot of time too).

Entrance score is a pre-requisite for admission to our management programmes.Candidates must have a valid score of Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi in the respective academic year OR Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi in December or in February every year. OR Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Managements IIMs in the respective academic year. Kerala Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) conducted by office of the Admission Supervisory / Fee Regulatory Committee for Professional Colleges, Kerala
Note: A minimum cut-off score is required in the competitive entrance exam. The cut-off for entrance tests will be determined on the basis of number of applications.
Selection Procedure
A multi-stage selection procedure will be followed for admission.
The first phase of group discussion & personal interview will be conducted on the basis of December MAT and November CAT.The second phase of group discussion & personal interview will be conducted on the basis of January CMAT, January KMAT and February MAT. However, candidates who could not attend the first phase of group discussion & personal interview can also attend the second phase of group discussion & personal interview. On receipt of filled-in application form, short-listed candidates will be called for Group Discussion & Personal Interview. Call letters to the short-listed candidates will be dispatched in a phased manner, two weeks prior to the commencement of each session. The short-listed candidates have to report at the college as per the allotted date and time. Eligibility verification of academic records will be held prior to the group discussion and interview. Soon after the verification process, candidates will be divided into two groups. The first group will go for group discussion, while the second group will go for personal interview and vice versa.
Admission will be based on the marks secured in the entrance test, group discussion and personal interview.
Previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experiences and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process will be observed.
