Here are some tips which you can keep in mind while preparing for GATE :
Go through latest syllabus of GATE.Read articles written by previously qualified candidates.Try to solve as much as possible theoretical and numerical problems.Develop some good tricks which will save your calculation time.

Well, if he is not good in studies then you must find out what attracts him and accordingly choose a course that gives him job once he complete the course,. It can be a diploma course like Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Computers, Mass Comm and he can complete his graduation with easy subjects from universities offering distant program like Meerut side by side
